The site is located in the southern part of the Prefecture of Rethymno, Crete, along the impressive and untouched Triopetra beach which lies in the Municipality of Agios Vasilios. The location is actually in the Southern-most part of Europe.

Triopetra is accessible from Chania and Heraklion International Airports. From Chania, it is 106km – an hour and 30-minute drive. From Heraklion there are two options: using the vertical road to the South through Tympaki, it is 97km – an hour and 30-minute drive; and using the existing North Highway of Crete through Rethymno, it is 124km – an hour and 40 minutes away.

The government announced the construction of the new emblematic North Cretan Highway which will be the largest new highway in Europe. Construction commenced at the end of 2022. Also, the airport of Heraklion will be replaced by the new airport of Kasteli which is estimated to be operational in 2027 with improved road infrastructure. This new international airport will be the second largest in Greece.

The total site has an area of 1.640.000sqm and is panoramically situated above the sandy shoreline of Triopetra. It starts at sea level where a steep slope covers the entire width of the property. The lower areas have a moderate gradient of about 10%, increasing to over 35% on the ascent towards the bold Mount Siderotas offering impressive sea views.

The front of the property extends 700m along the length of a white sandy beach whose width measures up to an amazing 120m. The crystal clear waters reveal the sea bed, which is predominantly sand, and the rich marine life.

Running lengthwise through the property are three picturesque ravines with a total area of 140.000sqm. During the rainy season flowing water allows for rich fauna and flora to flourish adding life and colour to the ravines. Most of the green is formed by olive groves, carob trees and low shrubbery such as thyme, spiny broom and savory.

Triopetra is one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete.

The name has stemmed from its dominant landmark - the three huge rocks looming large out of the blue Mediterranean on the eastern side of the beach. The name Triopetra has originated from "trio" and "petra" meaning "three" and "stone" respectively, hence the fitting name of the resort.
